Down Our Way Diary

There are always a lot of things going on in school and the local community. This section gives you a flavour of what we do. Click here to see previous happenings!

PHOTOS TAKEN BY THE CHILDREN at the Wensleydale Football Festival. We like leap frog best, it illustrates our deeply competitive nature!

A big thank you to Julie and Carolyn for organising the 'Walking Bus'. We hope that it becomes a regular feature of school life at Askrigg.

The famous mentos mints and diet coke experiment. Drop one pack into the bottle and retreat quickly! This was part of science day. Edgar from Zimbabwe playing cricket in the playground. He couldn’t wait to ‘vote for change’.
First Aid, hey! Let’s all lay on the floor. Willow lanterns made with Phillip Bradley
Peacock. The School Council visited other schools and found this recycled plastic bag peacock. We hope to have one soon. Marble run, hours of work on science day. An you make a run that lasts exactly one minute…I can’t.
Electricity on science day. It’s funny how children really can concentrate all day on one thing, when it grabs their attention and interest. Everyone getting stuck into another activity on science day.
A civil engineer in the making. Fettuccine Towers, far more tricky than it looks and the maths comes out of the work in a very natural way. Living willow tunnels, another discovery by the School Council, we hope to have some soon.
